 Transfer all your money into a savings account and leave your bank account at such a low level you have to transfer money before you spend any money, this way it will trigger your brain to think twice about your purchases as you have to transfer the money back into your main bank account before you can buy anything. This way also stops you impulse spending. 

Even if you have £1,000,000 in your savings you will always be careful about your spending using this method. 

The supermarkets sneakily try to make you spend more so write a list and stick to it and find the best prices for each item, you can find the best prices online for an online shop but if you go into the supermarket bring the list with you with the  prices on it.
